Microsoft had a pretty eventful Gamescom briefing yesterday, with one of the standout announcements being the unveiling of the new Jurassic World Evolution. Possibly the park building sim we've all been waiting for, this brand new game set in the Jurassic world universe will be coming to Xbox one, PS4 and PC in the summer of 2018.

Developed by Frontier Developments, the devs that brought us the Rollercoaster Tycoon series, we know that they have the experience to bring a Jurassic world park sim to life and hopefully create the game we've all been clamouring for since since Jurassic Park: Operation genesis was released back in 2003.

Frontier Development's Chief creative officer had this to say on the upcoming release:

“As long-time fans of the entire Jurassic series we’re thrilled to be putting players in charge of their own Jurassic World,” said Frontier’s Chief Creative Officer, Jonny Watts. “We’re excited to bring over fifteen years of management, simulation, and creature development expertise to a destination and franchise that remains an inspiration to us.”

I know it might sound cliche, but i'm excited that Jurassic World Evolution is going to be developed by fans of the series itself, when it comes to fans making games for other fans we usually see a more in depth and well thought out experience.

The trailer itself packs a lot into a minute and a half, we get to see several main aspects of what we can assume the game is all about. It kind of goes without saying that we're going to be creating our very own Jurassic park, but the trailer also eludes to being able to bioengineer your own dinosaurs and also gives us a glimpse of the type of problems you might be faced with as the park's director when one of our many fanged friends escapes and goes on the war-path.

Jurassic World Evolution is set to be released alongside Universal pictures latest instalment of this mighty film franchise Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom which is of course also slated for a summer 2018 release and starring Chris Pratt and being directed by J.A. Bayonna.

The fact that Jurassic World Evolution is being developed by this English studio that has a long background in these types of simulation games gives me confidence and a fair bit of hope for how this game is going to turn out. I for one can't wait to get my teeth into this one....sorry, i couldn't resist.
